That last poem--made me realize the closest I've gotten to experiencing the busy, conflicting joys of fatherhood is through you writing about it.
One day they're going to read these and understand something.
As for J.H. and his food writing: does he have recipes, or is it appreciations of other people's cooking? I imagine a lot of fresh game. A la taking on the spirit of the animal/toasting the great earth mother.

He just write, gloriously, about eating stuff. The pure joy of ingesting.
