Have you read "2666"? It is the sound of a man writing for five years with his eyes closed. Reading "2666" with eyes open, I keep seeing Glen Gould typing Bach between the letters of inevitable sentences. It's always the subtlest sensations that tell you're right on the cusp of feeling alive. Just about all of it.Sing along while you play it, it makes it sound better. Just like you're reading it without eyes.
The last time you pushed a work of art this hard, I ended up watching Mr. Goodbar in a library basement. That bit about the subtlest sensations is no joke though. Tiny rollercoasters. And I'll put this one on my list, ah my list . . .
