It's got to be the weekend of October 10. I recall that you were thinking of coming in a few days early to hang in NYC. We should talk about airports and options. Newark is the best source for Jersey . . . and you can take a train from there to NYC. It's probably your best bet, considering that I'll be driving you back there. I'm off Monday, Columbus Day. Etc.
I think Newark will be where I would come in from. What I'm thinking of doing is coming in on the 8th or 9th and leaving on the 11th. I'm not going to stay for Monday--we'll leave that as time for the family or for yourself.
Better question--how many nights would you think you could have a visitor? I would also be willing to get a hotel room too.
If you fly in on the 8th, I will have to pick you up in the evening (6:30 or later). Friday I'll have work and you can hop a train to NYC. The train station is a stone's throw from my house, and trains leave as early as 6 a.m.
Friday night, if you can make it back, we will eat Coq a Vin. I will have my butcher prepare the meat in advance.
You can leave when you like, Sunday afternoon/evening or Monday afternoon.
We can easily host you for three or four nights, but truly the children and the external environment run the house. We can promise you a spit-up stained couch, fairly little privacy, frequent baby/truck noise, great sustenance, plenty of books, and decent walks.
What else:
The hours between 5 and 8 resemble something out of Beckett. You will want to disappear or wash dishes.
We will have to do our fair share of entertaining H. He is like a tiny, brightly colored thing . . . afloat in an ocean, begging for claws.
If you're in shape, we can run trails on Saturday morning.
It's official, I've bought my ticket... I'll be arriving at Newark Liberty International at 5:02 pm on the 8th. On Sunday my flight leaves at 6:25 pm from the same airport.
I guess my plan will be to leave for NYC early in the morning on Friday, by train, then come back that evening. As for Coq a Vin--well, the butcher may have to sit on his hands for me at least, since I'm one of those vegetarians now.
I'm an expert dishwasher. And I've been known to serve as a pretty decent jungle gym for children.
It should be a rule with us that we can't go a year without sitting in the same room together...the more people in it, the merrier.

Just holla,
Here's a plan.

This is our life, and you are welcome to it.

Is rabbit a vegetable? I was planning to use that in the Coq a Vin.
Oh, and one technicality. You may have to spend a little time in the airport on Thursday night. I can most likely get there by 6.
It's a nice place.
No it's not.
Rabbits grow in the ground, so they must be.
As for Newark Liberty...no worries. I'll savor the regional accidents floating by.
I meant "accents"...how about that for a slip?
I will eat Coq a Vin. You can split a piece of lettuce with my wife, who shares your affliction.
Once I get a meal (and its unfolding) in my head, it's hard for me to shake it.
How about this--I will take your wife out for a nice meal, you can eat your Coq alone?
